Firelux is suitable for all brands of portable paraffin heaters and blowers in Europe. Our fuels comply with stringent directives, including the NF 128 standard, and are safe to use without affecting the heater warranty.
Yes, Firelux Plus is extremely well-suited for use in paraffin hot air blowers. The low sulphur and aromatic hydrocarbon content means it is more economical and cleaner to use, including at higher heating capacities.
Yes. Firelux complies with the same standards as the recommended brands. Some manufacturers encourage the use of their own brand, but opting for Firelux should not affect your warranty.
You can, but we recommend that you first allow your heater to burn all of the fuel already present in the reservoir before refilling with another brand. This will help to prevent contamination of the system and wear and tear on parts.
The indications on how and when to change the wick will vary, depending on the brand of paraffin heater. You should therefore first read the manufacturer’s user instructions or indications on the website of the relevant manufacturer/importer. In general, heaters with wicks are more sensitive to variations in the quality of the fuel that is used (read our TIP to prevent issues). This occurs because the wick material (partly cotton, felt or fibreglass) can become blocked; the upper edge then gets hard, and the wick eventually needs changing. There are no exact guidelines regarding the life of a wick (one to three seasons is typical, providing the fuel is compliant with European directives on viscosity and sulphur, benzene and aromatic hydrocarbon content). Most notably, the ‘cheaper’ paraffin types sold at petrol stations frequently fail to comply with the aforesaid directives, and are more likely to be contaminated with harmful substances, leading to excessive wear of the heater and/or its components.
Yes. Because portable paraffin heaters use up the oxygen in the space they occupy, it is wise to ventilate the space regularly, even when using clean fuels such as Firelux.
All heaters can briefly emit odours when ignited or extinguished. However, Firelux fuels are virtually odourless during use. Firelux Plus has an aromatic hydrocarbon content of less than 0.1% and Firelux Clear even less than 0.007%.
Yes, as long as you use them correctly. European heaters bear a CE mark and many models come with extra safety sensors. When combined with a pure fuel such as Firelux, you can use them safely for heating.
Keep Firelux in the original container in a dark, cool place away from heat sources. Close the cap tightly. This will ensure the fuel remains in good condition for at least a year.
On the contrary. Firelux fuels are so pure that they actually reduce wear and tear. This extends the life of your heater and keeps your system clean.
Firelux is extremely pure and contains virtually no aromatic hydrocarbons or sulphur. This means the burner stays cleaner, clogging of the wick is reduced, and there is less wear and tear on your heater. Parts such as the wick or combustion chamber won’t need to be replaced as often either.
Yes. Because Firelux causes less contamination, your heater’s internal parts will remain in better condition. Using cheap, less clean fuels often leads to accelerated wear and tear, hard wick edges or blockages. Firelux prevents all of these things and helps keep your heater working for longer.
Firelux satisfies all of the requirements for safe combustion. Using Firelux should not be a reason for warranty exclusions, even though manufacturers sometimes promote the use of their own fuel brand.
Cheaper pump fuels often contain more polluting substances such as sulphur and aromatic compounds. This leads to more odour, faster wear and tear, and greater health risks. Firelux is cleaner, safer and kinder to your heater.
Firelux is a seasonal product that is mainly sold during autumn and winter. Availability during spring and summer may vary between sales outlets. If you want to be sure that it is in stock, then we recommend contacting your sales outlet beforehand.
That depends on the type of heater and how long you use it. On average, a portable paraffin heater uses between 0.25 and 0.5 litres per hour. A 20-litre jerry can of Firelux will therefore give you around 40-80 hours of heating.
Firelux is available from more than 500 sales outlets throughout the Netherlands. By visiting our sales outlet page, you can find a location close to you, as well as the contact details.
The NF certification mark (NF 128 standard) is a strict French certification mark for safe, odourless fuels for paraffin heaters. Firelux fully complies with this standard and is therefore approved for use in all recognised heater brands.
Aromatic hydrocarbons are substances that cause odour and smoke. A lower aromatic hydrocarbon content ensures cleaner combustion that is lower in odour. Firelux Plus has an extremely low aromatic hydrocarbon content of less than 0.007%.
Firelux Clear is a GTL fuel, which stands for ‘gas to liquid’. This synthetic fuel is made from natural gas instead of petroleum, and is therefore much purer and cleaner when burned.
Consult your heater manual for instructions. As a general rule, if the wick becomes hardened or dirty, it should be replaced. Always use clean fuel to prevent this happening.
