You can, but we recommend that you first allow your heater to burn all of the fuel already present in the reservoir before refilling with another brand. This will help to prevent contamination of the system and wear and tear on parts. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The indications on how and when to change the wick will vary, depending on the brand of paraffin heater. You should therefore first read the manufacturer\u2019s user instructions or indications on the website of the relevant manufacturer\/importer. In general, heaters with wicks are more sensitive to variations in the quality of the fuel that is used (read our TIP to prevent issues<\/a>). This occurs because the wick material (partly cotton, felt or fibreglass) can become blocked; the upper edge then gets hard, and the wick eventually needs changing. There are no exact guidelines regarding the life of a wick (one to three seasons is typical, providing the fuel is compliant with European directives on viscosity and sulphur, benzene and aromatic hydrocarbon content). Most notably, the \u2018cheaper\u2019 paraffin types sold at petrol stations frequently fail to comply with the aforesaid directives, and are more likely to be contaminated with harmful substances, leading to excessive wear of the heater and\/or its components. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

All heaters can briefly emit odours when ignited or extinguished. However, Firelux fuels are virtually odourless during use. Firelux Plus has an aromatic hydrocarbon content of less than 0.1% and Firelux Clear even less than 0.007%. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Firelux is extremely pure and contains virtually no aromatic hydrocarbons or sulphur. This means the burner stays cleaner, clogging of the wick is reduced, and there is less wear and tear on your heater. Yes. Because Firelux causes less contamination, your heater\u2019s internal parts will remain in better condition.
